Honouring a Legacy: A Special Framing Project for the Gurkha MEMORIAL Museum in WEST Nepal29/1/2025 At Artscape we are privileged to work on unique and meaningful framing projects, but some commissions carry a special historical and emotional weight. Recently, we had the honour of framing a tribute to a distinguished British Senior Gurkha, a piece that will be proudly displayed Burlison Gallery at the official Gurkha Memorial Museum in Pokhara, West Nepal. The gallery was funded by the legacy he left.
A former Senior Gurkha, now residing locally, entrusted us with this deeply significant piece—a beautifully captured photograph accompanied by a written tribute. This framed work will commemorate the service and legacy of another esteemed British Senior Gurkha, Major John Burlison, whose contributions are being celebrated within the museum’s walls. Understanding the importance of this project, we took meticulous care in selecting the perfect frame to enhance the presentation while ensuring the preservation of this historical document. A real wood moulding was chosen to complement the museum’s striking red wall, where the piece will be prominently displayed, standing as a testament to the bravery, dedication, and camaraderie that define the Gurkha spirit. Additionally, it was decided that the piece would look better as a double aperture rather than two separate frames, ensuring a cohesive and elegant presentation. For us, bespoke framing is more than just an art; it is about storytelling, honouring the past, and preserving memories for future generations. We are deeply grateful to have played a role in this special tribute and look forward to seeing it take its rightful place in the Gurkha Memorial Museum in Nepal. If you have a cherished piece of history or a personal tribute you’d like to frame, we would be honoured to help bring your vision to life. Contact us today to discuss your bespoke framing needs.

At Artscape, we take immense pride in helping our clients preserve their most cherished memories. Recently, we had the pleasure of creating a bespoke frame for a truly unique and unforgettable experience—the FIFA World Cup Final in Qatar.
Our client’s wife brought in a collection of memorabilia from the event: the ticket, lanyard, and program. These items weren’t just keepsakes; they were tangible reminders of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Attending the World Cup Final is a dream for many, and we were honoured to play a role in commemorating such a special occasion as a gift for her husband. The Framing Process To ensure these precious items were displayed with the elegance they deserved, we chose a sleek black frame that complemented the vibrant colours of the memorabilia. Using a box framing technique, we created depth and dimension, allowing each item to stand out while being securely preserved. Box framing is ideal for keepsakes like this because it provides a protective enclosure, keeping the items safe from dust and damage while offering a stunning visual presentation. The black frame added a touch of sophistication, ensuring the display would look at home in any setting, whether it’s a living room, office, or dedicated sports memorabilia space. Why Bespoke Framing Matters Every memory is unique, and so is the story it tells. That’s why bespoke framing is so important. It’s not just about putting items in a frame; it’s about creating a display that enhances their significance and preserves them for years to come. For this project, we worked closely with our client to ensure the final piece reflected the magnitude of the moment. A Lasting Tribute The finished piece is more than just a frame—it’s a tribute to an incredible experience. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd, the thrill of the match, or the pride of witnessing history, this framed memento will evoke those emotions every time it’s seen. If you have cherished memories or keepsakes you’d like to preserve, we’d love to help. From sporting events to family heirlooms, our bespoke framing services are designed to turn your moments into lasting works of art.
